Well, I don't remember if I told ya'll last week but this week has been FULL of miracles!!!!! Last Tuesday we went over to this family's house. The parents are less active and their daughters (4) go to church with the grandparents. Well, the oldest girl is from a previous relationship so she hasn't been baptized because her mom has never given permission. So we taught them Baptism and Confirmation (from lesson 4 of PMG), and at the end asked Brea if she wanted to be baptized. We talked to her about setting the goal and she said Easter...well that was a little too fast, so she set it for March 29! Then the next day she called her mom and her mom gave permission! We met with Brea and her mom last night and taught the Plan of Salvation! It was awesome and we think her mom is going to start coming to church as well! What a miracle! I am so grateful that the Lord is in charge of this work!!! I know that the Lord answers prayers! I am so excited to be able to have a baptism this month! She will be baptized on March 29 and confirmed on March 30! Then the next weekend Sabrina will be baptized and confirmed on April 5! Two baptisms two weeks in a row!!!!! It doesn't get any better than that...oh wait...yes it does... :)
So last Friday (March 7) on the way back from a meeting we received a referral from the office for a woman wanting a Book of Mormon. We were very excited because the referral said that she was seeking peace in her life!!! We tried to go by Sat. and Sun. but it didn't work out. She was home but busy every time we went. But then last monday we met her and her sister and delivered the Book of Mormon and set up a time to come back! The first lesson went very well and she was very receptive. We were able to answer some questions that she had had for a long time. So we came back on Sunday afternoon with Sis. Hoeppner. We had left her with the Plan of Salvation pamphlett and she had read it and the passages we left with her a couple times! She said it all clicked and made sense and that she had thought that was the way it was but her other church told her she was wrong. Well, we taught in the lesson all the way until our life on earth where we talked about the importance of baptism. The discussion drifted as she had some other questions, but at the end of answering her questions, the Spirit was so strong in the room! She looked at us and told us that she wasn't sure why but she looked forward to us coming over and she liked when we were there. It felt so amazing to tell her that was because of the Spirit and that God had sent us to her because he loved her and because we were His servants. After a little more discussion, she set her baptism date for April 26!!!! We still have a little way to go, but she set the date and has since prayed about it and she knows that that is what she wants to do! I am so excited!! I love being a missionary! Oh and she has 2 sons (9 and 13)! We will be going tomorrow to teach them the message of the Restoration! I am so grateful for the miracles that God provides for His children!
I am so grateful to be one of God's missionaries right now! What a Blessing! I know that God loves each and every one of us! Recently I have been praying that when we meet people that they will recognize us as servants of the Lord and that I will recognize them as children of God. A miraculous thing has taken place...I truly am starting to see them as HIS children. Before I knew they were my brothers and sisters, but now I know that they are HIS children! I love this gospel! I love the Lord and I am grateful to be able to serve Him all day every day for at least the next 10 months!
Ok, well I suppose I should go! I hope ya'll have a happy Easter! I just realized that I got my mission call right before last Easter...weird! Well it was in April last year, but still! Anyway! I love being a missionary! There's nothing greater than sharing the gospel! I am excited for Zone Conference this weekend! I'm sure I'll have some great insights to share with ya'll afterwards!
Oh, next week we are going to the Outer Banks (OBX) for P-Day! Sis. Moore (a member) is going to take us so we can meet up with Sis. Hummel and Sister Sowards and go to the beach, kitty hawk, etc! I'm pretty stoked, but it means that e-mailing might be uber short next week. We are contemplating e-mailing for a few min. so we can leave early. I just didn't want you thinking it was a lack of love! :) I'll send pics from the Atlantic Ocean in a couple weeks!!
Love,
Sister Abbott
